We brought in the new year in a way that we had not in years--we slept.
Yesterday on New Year's Eve, we took several items to Goodwill drive through donation center and then went inside the store. This may have been the wrong move or the seed was planted earlier somehow.
Once inside, I scanned my usual suspects of books thoroughly and picked up a few to sort through again before making my final selection.
Our oldest daughter suddenly wanted to go home and we had to distract her to get her mind off it.
Then once we walked outside after making a few purchases, you could feel the sun sap the energy away.
We went straight home and had a dinner invitation at a friend's house nearby, but we simply could not hold out any longer.
My wife felt ill upon returning home and then I felt like I had stayed up a week for no apparent reason at all.
We canceled the dinner plans two hours ahead of the scheduled time and knew that going to our church's watch night service was going to be just as difficult in maintaining our strength.
I had a conference call and my phone was on mute the majority of the time since I barely had the energy to hear much less say a few words. The meeting went well and only lasted 36 minutes.
After we ate dinner, our daughters' moods started picking up a little. But I was still going down for the count.
My energy level was below my feet:)
Everyone was in bed slightly after the kids' regular bedtime and we heard major fireworks outside and not too far away at midnight we presume.
Six Flags over Georgia or a church had a resounding set of fireworks heard but we did not get up to check anything out and stayed in bed.
I did get up this morning at 10:55 a.m. after being in our bedroom over 12 hours, so after breakfast I will feel like a champion:)
I hope that your introduction to 2008 was better and I am thoroughly relieved to escape the gravity of 2007.
Next year I will plan to take an afternoon nap on New Year's Eve and eat more often during the morning and midday in order to have more energy. But our grueling schedules just caught up with us at the end of the year.
Peace!
The male chorus sang today at church and afterwards my wife mentioned that we sang better than a few other choirs who sing regularly.
The male chorus sings only on the fifth Sundays.
We ate dinner at Olive Garden after church and went straight home since the rainy weather had a little cold nip on it.
I got a decent nap and have been mellow ever since.
Chilling on a Sunday evening is always a cool groove:)
If the entire 2008 could be like this!
Peace!
